The COVID-19 pandemic will finally hit The Bachelor during Wednesday’s episode, as Locky Gilbert and his remaining contestants are sent home to isolate.
However, it wasn’t just naughty Zoom calls and virtual dates for all of the girls during the three month production break, that started at the end of March.
Speaking to New Idea this week, Irena Srbinovska revealed that she actually left Locky as an afterthought and returned to work as a nurse in Melbourne instead.
‘My heart was torn – a part of me was selfishly devastated that the show was stopping, but then the other half was so eager to get back home and help fight Covid,’ she said.
‘So it was hard saying goodbye to Locky and the girls, but also so rewarding that I could do my part to help out with the pandemic.’
It’s currently unclear how this will play out on the show. Early previews show Irena was present during some of the ‘love in lockdown’ virtual dates with Locky.
It’s also unclear if this meant Irena then returned to the show later than the other girls once filming finally resumed in Sydney in early July.
On Monday, former star Nadine Kodsi claimed Irena makes the top two.
