Married At First Sight’s Amanda Micallef faced an almighty backlash on Thursday after starting a GoFundMe page asking fans to help pay for her move from Melbourne to the Gold Coast.
The 34-year-old decided to ask her followers for help after losing her personal training income in March due to COVID-19 and ‘surviving off Centrelink’ ever since then.
However, it appears there’s more to the story than first thought.
Yep, it seems the GoFundMe was more of a last resort for Amanda, who turned to Facebook to try and sell her designer bag collection back in July. And seemingly try and raise the money for her move herself first without having to ask for help?
Last week, Amanda also started listing her homely possessions on Facebook, including an antique bed and washing machine, but most of these are yet to sell.
It was only then that she started the GoFundMe – which has had $5,587 in donations so far.
PS: We phoned Amanda up to ask about her GoFundMe backlash, read her response HERE.
