Big Brother VIP Starts Tonight And We’re Feeling Nostalgic, So Here’s A Load Of Iconic Moments
Big Brother

Big Brother VIP kicks off tonight as celebrities (and influencers, obv) compete for a $100,000 charity prize in Australia’s most famous house.

It’ll feature the likes of Caitlyn Jenner, Thomas Markle Jnr, Jessika Power and Luke Toki – and in all honesty, we’re very excited.

And if that wasn’t great enough… Big Brother’s Back to the Future All-Stars spin off is currently filming in Sydney as you read this sentence, so we thought we’d recap our Top 5 most memorable moments of Big Brother Australia.

1. Merlin’s Protest – 2004

“Free Th Refugees”

How could we forget this?  Possibly the first time in Australian television where Reality TV touched on real-life issues.  Gretel handled the situation with such professionalism and Merlin’s message is still well regarded today.

2.  Bree Wrongly Evicted – 2004

Bree at her eviction, unaware she’d be returning just 24 hours later!

I literally can’t believe this happened.  Bree was evicted, but soon after, producers were informed that the vote data was incorrect and in fact housemate Weasley was supposed to be evicted instead.  Bree re-entered the house the following night and went on to become the season runner-up.

3. Tully and Drew – 2013

Tully and Drew showed a lot of affection in the house

Tully had a girlfriend when she entered the house, but practically entered a romantic relationship with Drew while in the house as the whole nation (including her girlfriend) watched on.  The two dated for a while after the show – Tully even moved to Melbourne to be with him.  The relationship did not work out – but we have knowledge that both Tully and Drew are currently in the Big Brother house filming for Big Brother: Back to the Future due to air next year!

4. Chrissie Swan Unleashing on Housemate Ben – 2003

Chrissie Swan told Ben exactly what was on her mind

Chrissie well and truly told Ben off for acting like a bully after he upset the house.  The power in her words was unforgettable.  Chrissie has since gone on to host several television and radio programs, and won a Logie in 2011!

5. Sara-Marie: Where it all began – 2001

Iconic

Bum Dance. Bunny Ears. These are the things that defined the success of Big Brother Australia in its first-ever series.  Sara-Marie captured the hearts of every single Australian back in 2001.  If this doesn’t feed your nostalgia, I don’t know what will!
