The Bachelor’s Zoe-Clare McDonald is infamous for her cocktail party ‘ranga’ meltdown, where she accused Areeba Emmanuel of targeting her because of her red hair.
But following her exit from the show on Wednesday night, the 23-year-old has revealed that the bizarre outburst wasn’t just about her co-star.
Instead, Zoe-Clare tells The Daily Telegraph that it stemmed from years of ridicule about the colour of her hair, while also mixing alcohol and medication on set.
‘Unfortunately I had been quite ill leading up to [the first cocktail party] so I had been on medication,’ she told the newspaper on Thursday, after leaving the show.
Zoe-Clare continued: ‘Having two drinks did not help. At the end of the day, my emotions were super heightened and it escalated to a ranga rant.’
The star also admitted that she was sick for ‘nearly two weeks’ following the outburst, which is why she then received minimum airtime, before Locky Gilbert sent her home this week.
Which, to be honest, makes sense since we snapped her several days after the first cocktail party (pictured above) crying outside of the first group date on March 10.
During the interview Zoe-Clare went on to claim that some people said some ‘quite nasty’ things about her hair in the house, which was a ‘trigger’ for her after being called names such as ‘orangutan’ or ‘Ronanld McDonald’ growing up.
We hope you’re feeling okay now, Zoe-Clare!
