A friend of Bryce Ruthven’s ‘secret girlfriend’, who he was apparently dating whilst filming Married At First Sight, has done a tell-all interview.
The anonymous mate spoke to B105 Brisbane’s Stav, Abby & Matt, and claimed Bryce ended things with Courtney the day before filming his final vow ceremony with Melissa Rawson.
They also claimed Bryce told people he wasn’t actually with Melissa during production, and asked everyone to delete pictures of him and Courtney from social media before the show aired.
As mentioned on the show, Bryce insists he only briefly dated Courtney before leaving for filming, after meeting on Tinder.
Here’s what Courtney’s friend had to say…
What was their relationship like before he left for the show?
‘They were full blown dating and loved each other … he had moved to Canberra in like May/June and went to film the show in September – so he would have met her just weeks after moving there.’
Why did she continue to date someone who was on MAFS?
‘He had this conversation with everybody he knew, and [he said] he had spoken to Melissa [about everything] and they didn’t actually share the same apartment during filming and he’d told her that he wasn’t interested. The thing about Beck is true, he told people that he told Beck [about the girlfriend].’
When was the last contact between Bryce and Courtney?
‘It was sort of in the last few weeks. He actually had the audacity to have a go at her for moving on … it was wild, and really upsetting.’
Was he texting Courtney throughout the experiment?
‘Yeah, she was telling us, “Everyone on the show knows [about me] and it’s fine, he FaceTimes me with the boys around”.’
How is she coping now it’s on TV, and when did they split?
‘She hasn’t been watching the show, she’s met somebody else who is much nicer, and for her mental health she said I’m not going [to watch]. Bryce ended it with her pretty much the day before last night’s [final vows] episode was filmed [in December]. He came back to Canberra, he was in a bit of a bad way because he’d had a lot of people going at him over her [during filming]. So he met up with [Courtney] and said, “I’m going to end this”. She was kind of at that point already, because he’d admitted to her on her birthday that he’d been physically intimate with Melissa – which she didn’t think was the case. So yeah, he ended it with her, I’m pretty sure they hooked up again, then he went to film his final vows and said yes to Melissa the next day.’
Once again, Bryce denies all of this.
