Big Brother’s Jess Trend has responded to the criticism she has faced for deciding to remain on the show, after being informed her nana was ‘about to pass away’ back home in Victoria.
During Wednesday’s episode, the footy player received a phone call from her brother explaining the bad news – but Jess decided to stay in the house, saying she was doing it for her nana.
Many viewers have since questioned her decision, with Jess now responding on Instagram.
After winning Wednesday’s strength challenge, Jess wrote: ‘This one was for you Nana. Fair bit of negativity coming through, but I know my family and I will sleep well tonight, knowing the decisions we/I made were for the right reasons. Thanks to all of you who have sent supportive messages, your kindness means the world to me.’
At the start of the episode, Jess’s brother said on the phone: ‘Hey Jess. We need to tell you that nana isn’t doing too great. They found out that it was cancer, a tumour. There’s not very long. She’s going to a better place. She gets to go hang out with Pa again. We’re very proud of you, and we all want you to stay as there’s nothing you can do.’
