RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under contestant Etcetera Etcetera spilled a few behind-the-scenes secrets during a viewing party at Sydney’s iconic The Imperial Hotel on Saturday night.
After the Aussie cast released maxi challenge track Queens Down Under, the 22-year-old revealed the reality of actually producing the track on the show… and it all sounds kinda exhausting.
Oh, and the queens apparently make zero money from streams or sales of the track.
‘Go stream it. We don’t make a cent from the song, but let’s help Ru buy himself another ranch or something,’ Etcetera first joked to viewers as the episode ended at the screening.
‘We wrote, recorded, choreographed and then performed the songs back within [a day and a half]. We had to choreograph the songs to an acapella track as it had no vocals on it as they hadn’t been edited in,’ said Etcetera.
‘We only got the track with our vocals on it the morning we were performing it, and we only had an hour and a half to learn our own vocals back, which doesn’t sound difficult, but it’s actually really, really hard. I think everyone did a really, really good job. Even the people who did badly did really well, considering how fucking hard that was.’
